I do a lot of construction projects with a guy who has taken multiple big game hunting safaris to Africa. This guy is also a peanut butter lunatic. He would always take a few jars of PB with him to Africa to satisfy his jonesing and the local guides and porters refused to eat it after only a single taste.
Making this more bizarre is that peanuts were introduced to Africa in the mid-1500s and rapidly replaced a native cultivated crop which was very similar. Even though peanuts are common and plentiful the creamy spread made by crushing them into a paste is not common, and the adults this contractor interfaces with on his trips cannot stand the taste or texture of Peanut Butter.
