Yes, the brown is porcelain tile that simulates "black walnut." I got it at Lowes. It was inexpensive and I'm very happy with the way it came out.
And sorry, I guess I failed to update on the septic issue. I guess the original septic contractor used an inferior product for the infiltrators, which failed. The old system was abandoned, main trunk was moved further up and into the back yard, and new infiltrators were installed. I think the new ones are covered in a mesh filled with something that resembles packing peanuts. We needed a below-ground pump to get it up to the new infiltrators too. It was not inexpensive but we can flush again!
