I know it was cold in Toronto and Detroit. Much more than usual. Northeast of you guys, it's also been consistently cold, but not record breaking for us on a daily basis anyway... Other northern locales in other parts of the world have had a milder winter. Just the way things are flowing in the atmosphere I guess. We had a bunch of way milder than usual winters the last few years, so this is no big surprise... I remember going to Toronto in February a few years back and there was no snow whatsoever (basically none had even fallen at that point) and people were wandering around in sweaters and no jackets... now that is wrong! I wish the ski hills had a bit more snow though... I suspect the folks in BC are thinking the same (or at least the skiiers), but for a different reason - one of my friends there has been mowing grass for several weeks...
