OT: Automotive Service Eyeglasses Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Thu, 26 Mar 2015 17:11:26 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Back around the end of November I posted about my problem with nausea while doing automotive work which required laying on my back and working close to my face. I finally decided to follow my hunch that this was caused by my eyes' inability to focus properly with my bifocal lenses due to my age.
Tonight I had my Optometrist appointment and the Doctor found nothing wrong with my current prescription. She did feel that the combination of my prescription, my astigmatism, and close quarter work could easily cause my nausea issues. Her recommendation was Hobbyist Glasses, or in my case Automotive Service Glasses.
A second pair of bi-focal lenses but these will be ground with my standard reading prescription and an 8-10 foot distance prescription rather than the 1/2 mile prescription I have now.
Apparently my problem is fairly common, as evidenced by the number of similar responses to my earlier post. She also said that the correct distance prescription is more difficult to determine with these types of glasses as opposed to standard bifocal lenses, and to return the lenses for a prescription change if the glasses do no eliminate my problem fully. These glasses may also be called Computer Bifocals as that is another common usage for these.
Just thought I would pass this along as others here reported the same problem.
