I was driving to work the other morning in our '88 900T convertible and stopped at a crosswalk just north of SFO to let two middle-aged couples cross. The last guy to cross signaled to me and walked over all excited and said in a northern European accent, "This is a beautiful car! I just LOVE this car! I have a 2004 SAAB convertible at home and while I love it, I love this model more!"
"Where's home? Sweden? Germany?" I asked.
"We're from Holland." He proceeded to tell me where he has a rain leak in his car, we talked about getting rubber gasket parts, etc. By then, traffic was accumulating behind me so we parted ways and I could see his compatriots rolling their eyes about this encounter. Had I been thinking straight, I should have offered them a ride to where they were headed.
