OT: Best retirement article I have found yet 1 Saabers Like This Post! Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Mon, 2 Nov 2015 11:28:57 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
It will be three years this month since I told GM that I would be leaving on April 1st, 2013 after 38 years with a last work day of February 15th to burn accumulated vacation time. My plan was to find a similar position for a few more years and finally hang it up completely sometime between ages 62 and 68.
I now work in the Nuclear Power industry which I find refreshingly ethical and quality conscious compared to my previous experiences. I also read every article I can find regarding the next big transition in my life. Most of which are total crap.
The linked article is different. This person was obviously higher placed in his career than I was (or he is BS-ing), but our plans for expected retirement are nearly identical. And although I haven't taken the final step yet as he has done, my experiences match his in the changes I have taken.
I hope others looking at a short road to retirement find it an enjoyable read as what he has written is true.
