Anyone here use one? I'm referring to the 220V hard wired type. We are away from the house 12hrs a day, 5 days a week usually. I already have it set to the lowest comfortable setting to not overheat, and have a fiberglass wrap on the tank. Arguments would be that the extra energy used to bring the water up to required temp after being off for 12hrs or overnight, would negate the savings? And, if you took a day off or wanted really hot water on an odd day during the "off" cycle you would have to trek to the basement to override the timer in advance of usage. I've seen reports that they really don't save all that much when the math is done. What do we think folks?
