Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2
Installed 4/14, ran two summers, probably less than 20k miles.
Wanted to switch to these summer tires and noticed some cracking on the sidewall up at the shoulder. Had the local Goodyear dealer look at and they'll cover under warranty, but would only knock $30 off since low remaining tread.
Even though they were going to give me a minimal credit, later I found that their website has:
-------------
Goodyear's warranty states: "Ultra high-performance summer tires are not recommended for winter use, and tread or shoulder cracking on those tires resulting from winter use will not be covered under our warranty."
and However, like all summer tires, it is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.
--------------
I certainly might have left the tires on well into November with some "near-freezing temp's". I guess I won't do that again. Actually, I doubt if I'll buy Goodyear tires again.
Has anyone seen this warranty exclusion from other manufacturers?
Ed
I'll try to get a photo posted. The one photo I have has a 2" crack on the outer shoulder. Later I noticed substantial cracking on the inner shoulder of another tire.
