Non-Genuine Saab tensioner pulley...okay? Ordered it Posted by bender [Email] (#268) [Profile/Gallery] (more from bender) on Sat, 25 Jun 2016 10:44:42 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My dad was in the Boston area (I'm in Canada) and he said he'd pick up the part for me at Charles River Saab.
The pulley (Genuine Saab) was around 53 bucks and the whole tensioner assembly was around ~90. I assumed the latter was Genuine Saab, but after calling them it turned out not to be and that it might be aftermarket. The parts person, who was very nice, assured me that they don't sell any crap and it's likely to be the same as the GS tensioner. In fact, I've googled it (4898755) and for 90 it seems like it might be the genuine one...
I'm anal about parts. I "do it once and do it right" and I'm probably not going to do this repair for ages. It's too late for me to return it right now.
Any experiences with these? I was really only going to do the tensioner pulley but the difference in price wasn't much (car has 44k miles and is a 2001. Do tensioners go with age, too?)
Thanks,
Bender
