Your Guide to Saab Owner's Convention 2016!
The 34th Annual Saab Owner's Convention is just 13 days away! The Saab Club of North America and the Saab Club of Atlanta are looking forward to hosting you at the Evergreen Resort and Spa in Stone Mountain, Georgia. As you prepare for your visit to join Saab owners from around the country and around the world, here are a few things to keep in mind for this one-of-a-kind event.
SOC Top Tip #1- No Park Entry Fees: When you enter the park, you may notice that there is typically an entry fee associated with entering Stone Mountain. Please mention that you are with the Saab Convention, and you should be able to get in for free!
Are you the type of person who enjoys a quality craft brew? If so, the Saab Club of North America is privileged to bring the Orpheus Brewery, one of Atlanta's finest microbreweries, to you - right at Stone Mountain! At 5PM on Thursday, Orpheus Brewery's Brew Crew is offering a tasting and seminar on how they make their world-famous beverages. For only $25, you will get an hour to spend time with the Brew Crew, a tasting of several of their world-famous brews, and even some Orpheus Brewery memorabilia. No pre-registration required! Just show up at the Sherlock's Pub on the ground level of the Evergreen Resort a little before 5PM and pay there. See the attachment for more information about this event!.
SOC Top Tip #2 - Keep Cool: It's going to be a hot one out there, so make sure you stay cool and hydrated! The Saab Club of North America has provided a tent in the Southeast corner of the Showfield to ensure that our guests are able to find a shady spot. There will be water stations set up in the tent as well. However, if that won't keep you cool enough, there should be plenty going on inside the Evergreen Resort to keep you cool! Visit our Exhibitors as well as the Tech Sessions to learn more about how to keep your Saab maintained and perform even better than when it left the factory!
Do you want to learn more about what's going on in Trollhattan? How about adding some European-only options to your 9-3SS, or what's the latest on Saab Parts? Then make sure you take advantage of the tech sessions! For 2016, there will be at least seven different tech sessions taking place over both Friday and Saturday. Experts from around the world, including Peter Bäckström from the Saab Museum and Olle Granlund, former Chief Engineer at Saab, will be sharing their knowledge about the current, the past, and all there is to know about Saab. Come on in, keep cool, and hear a talk which will stay in your memory for years to come!
SOC Top Tip #3 - Check out the Swap meet: One of the highlights of every SOC is the ability to swap and barter Saab parts with other Saab aficionados. If you have a combi-load of stuff to sell, the Saab Club of North America is offering space on the east side of the Showfield (just north of the big tent) to show off your wares! For $25 a spot, you can have the spot all weekend to wheel and deal all you like!
Remember the Children: Every year the Saab Club of North America arranges a Charity Auction to give back to the community which has been kind enough to host us for that year. For 2016, the chosen charity is Kares 4 Kids, an Atlanta based charity who provides support for thousands of children in the greater Atlanta area. Do you have any extra Saab memorabilia laying around? How about that set of Type 8 Primaries gathering dust on your shelf? Consider donating them to the Charity Auction to help out this worthy cause! All contributions will be taken at the Rhododendron room / Registration Desk during registration hours.
SOC Top Tip #4 - get your Saab in shape at the show! We will have both Paintless Dent Repair as well as Wheel Repair available onsite during Friday and Saturday. Check out area just north of the tent to get your Saab Concours-ready!
We hope this guide is helpful! Looking forward to seeing you and your gleaming Saabs in just a few days! Until then, drive safe and Happy Saabing!
