Saab was very good at marketing their cars in limited production groups. The S.I.S. (Springtime in Sweden) was the only model I remember as directed specifically to the dealers. It was a 1988 900 Turbo convertible, black paint, grey interior, black top, SPG panels, special rims. all Saab badges removed, with a "placard" glued to the glove compartment door. I think a total of 288 (284 5 speed & 4 automatic). There was also a crystal vase in the trunk for each dealer. No performance upgrades were made to engine or suspension, like the SPG, that I know of. Some dealers sold them, some kept them. Rumor was that Saab mfg'd more than 288. Based on the number you see for sale; that's probably right.
The different shades of green Saabs were more of a U.K. promotion, with most of them being sedans loaded with all the options. Not too sporty, but I guess you would have to consider them rare. Some did make it to the United States.
