Just had one made for our new (to us) 2006 9-5 wagon. One of the keys that came with the car had become useless after a few weeks, as it would not easily turn in the ignition; the other key worked fine.
Went to ex-Saab dealer. (a mega dealer that also sells Toyota, Kia, VW, Infiniti, etc etc) They ordered me a blank ($34) and easily cut a new key in a few minutes. No charge for the cutting or the swapping in of the elctronics. Their parts mgr showed me how the defective key had some thin areas broken off - which was why it no longer worked. In his opinion, the defective key was not cut correctly probably due to the cutting machine not having been properly calibrated.
