Thanks, AdamSAAB2kAero and JMJinNC for your feedback.
In my wife's car (2013 Audi Q5), we have a grated pet barrier and a rubber mat in the back. That solution is not going to work for my 9-5 sedans. I'm not about to outfit them as Swedish police cruisers.
Our Scooby actually prefers the Saab over the Audi because of the lower and easier ingress and egress. At 11 years of age, he can no longer jump up, and hates being stretched and lifted for loading. We will probably need to get a collapsible ramp to keep the Audi in play.
The entanglement hazard concern notwithstanding, I'm probably going to choose the Sleepypod Clickit Terrain, which is touted as an improvement over the Clickit Sport and designed for the working dog. Plus, it's transferable to either car. If I end up getting it, I'll post a follow-up / evaluation.
