One <$4 valve, one $0.90 close nipple, pipe dope already on hand, and 5 minutes of my time. I searched the net this afternoon and found nothing regarding this new rule. Some D-I-Y magazines had on-line articles showing copper lines for natural gas, another configuration we were told was banned. I assume the rule is nation wide and driven by Building Code or AGA regulations.
I wish H-D had a sketch showing how the 4-foot distance was measured. The installers come with 4-foot line sets and a valve 3'-10" away really could not be connected in a usable manner even though it is under 4 feet. The real constraint is there must be a shut-off valve immediately behind the appliance!
