The Mitsubishi turbos in the Aeros are really quite solid. So it depends on whether she has a 2.3t (LPT) with the garret (kind of fragile and weak), the Arc (V6), or the Aero... or if the garret was already replaced with a td04 Mitsubishi which is what I would recommend if her is found bad. There are enough parts cars around now, it should be possible to find a good used TD04 if cost is a factor.

I would also suggest taking the car to a SAAB place, not Pep Boys. I think doing the latter is kind of asking for problems...

Sorry, I can't suggest any good SAAB shops near by but others here (MIRoger? NoSnaab?) might know where to go.
