OT: Connecting own modem to ComCast?? Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Wed, 28 Mar 2018 12:00:35 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I discovered last month that my ComCast modem was no longer free! Not sure how long it has been that way but I bought a Comcast compliant Arris Surfboard to replace the Comcast provided equipment and reduce my bill.
I have the Comcast instruction sheet:
1) Plug in your modem
2) Wait till modem resets itself/powers up
3) Connect to Comcast website
4) Enter required information
Easy enough, except they do not provide details of what specific information is required. I assume it may be the MAC Address, or a Serial Number or other data that is probably difficult to acquire from the name plates after the modem is connected and powered on.
Anyone know what info I should jot down from the new modem before I connect it and power it on?
Thanks,
