I saw the time slip and it's in the mid 127s, but not sure if that was the record run the down run. The slip says return ( down ) but so far all the slips I've seen say return run, as they may not have uploaded that it was already qual'd for the record.
And not to try to dampen Scott's enthusiasm to call the achievement a world record, it's not really a world record. World records are reserved for FIA records, and Saab has a bundle of them, but a Bonneville record is what we call a National Record, even though the record certification sheet says world record, it's not accurate. Prior to World of Speed we had a meeting about this, apparently there will be some changes in how it is "named" or identified in the future.
The big quest this year has been to get over 500mph, and Dave Spangler in the Vesco streamliner almost did it the other day.....483 and change. So, the new record there is 482+.
Perhaps at World Finals coming up in October we'll see over 500 if the weather holds. We're going back to run the Landjet to capture a record we loaned out last year. Now, you'll probably wonder what the heck, they call it World Finals, why isn't it a World Record. Because the FIA is not the sanctioning body, simple as that.
