NAD products are generally fairly robust. Maybe not to the extent of the higher end brands, but they are generally excellent value in terms of build quality and sound quality. Cambridge Audio maybe even more so. That said, CD players can have transport problems develop over time, and I suppose all brands have some lemons.
If you can get by with single disc, that might be the most viable option as there are many compact models out there.
I suppose there must still be magazine changers for car audio, though jury rigging one of those for home use would probably end up with something non-user friendly... The multi-disc concept has really been replaced with files streamed from a hard drive (or SSD, or heck even a memory stick!)...
