I founded the non-profit, Poverty2Prosperity.org in 2008. We are doing a drive for International Women's Day to increase our zero-percent lending to women. Please read the details below and share if you can. Thanks!
Friday, March 8th is International Women's Day, and Poverty2Prosperity.org (P2P) wants to invite you to help make a difference in the lives of women. P2P makes zero-percent interest loans to the working poor around the world and in the U.S. Founded in 2008, P2P has made over 20,000 loans in the past 10 years. Besides our General Fund, we have a number of funds that target specific areas to help such as education, personal housing, single parents, expiring loans, and we have one specifically for women.
For International Women's Day we are inviting everyone to make a donation to our Women's Fund to increase lending to women. There are many reasons to focus on lending to women! Women make great entrepreneurs - not only do they work hard, but they (sorry men, but it's just the data) spend a larger share of earnings on children and the general family expenses than men do (but men are catching up!). Family members have improved access to food, housing, education, and medical care. Our Women's Fund has a fantastic repayment rate and after having made over 2,500 loans, our repayment rate is 99.77%. Seriously, that's less than 1/4 of 1% who could not pay back in full. Since 100% of repayments are immediately put back into new loans, this means that a donation made today will keep making new loans for about 100 years! The in-country field partners that P2P works with often have educational components that accompany the loans, so women learn business and household skills. The field partners decide what needs the community has and will design appropriate programs to fit those needs. There are field partners which offer low cost medication to cure dehydration for children, AIDS awareness, low cost cervical cancer screenings, classes about domestic violence awareness, and, of course, bookkeeping, among many others.
Please consider a donation to Poverty2Prosperity.org, a nonprofit with 501(c)3 status which means donations are tax-deductible. We are an all-volunteer organization. Since 2008, we have been able to put 97% of all donations directly into making loans. You can donate to our Women's Fund using the button below or at the link below.
Thanks,
-Scott
