I can't help myself. I am always looking for a good Saab.
Most recently, browsing the classifieds here, I went after a 2006 9-5 Combi with 46K. Polar white over parchment comfort interior with an automatic.
If it were 2006, and I was to order a Saab from the factory, it would have been a Polar white 9-5 Combi with a black leather sport interior and a stick shift. (As many of you know, in 2006 and later, all 9-5s shipped with the 260HP B235R, and much of the 2006 model year did not have an "Aero" designation, but the sport seats and suspension were stand-alone options to make it the same as Aero spec.)
Well, this white one in the classifieds ticked many of those boxes and has a complete service history during all of its 46K mile life. The only things missing were the seats and transmission.
After looking at and driving the car, I ended up buying it, having done some research about swapping seats, and (once again) settling for the automatic. (This will be my 3rd 9-5 B235R wagon... I'll keep looking for a manual, but as a family car, it's not a necessity.)
Over the following couple of days, I put my Viggen wheels (brand new Michelin Pilot Sport AS 3+. these will serve as my summer wheels as I also run dedicated snows.) on it, and swapped the interior from our '03 with black leather sport seats. (I'll post to the 9-5 board on that process... It was long, but not too bad.)
Interestingly, the black interior in our 177K '03 is in better shape than the 46K parchment.
Anyway, here's to Saab number 7! (I count the 9000 Aero twice since I owned it on two different occasions)
Its the same, but different...
