I sent out both the SID and HVAC ACC Controller from my 2000 Viggen yesterday for repair. I was planning to wait until the parts returned and were installed before posting the name and email of the person doing this work for me, but I have received so many confirmations of this person's work from other SAAB owners that I decided to share the info earlier than planned.
The individual is Pavel Sotskov, he usually identifies himself as Pavel S. He now lives in the greater Seattle area but apparently previously lived in New England based on comments from other users and his profile on a different SAAB owner's Bulletin Board.
I found him by Private Messaging him on the other Board after being given his name on the SaabNet OG9-3 board by Justin VanAbrahams.
You can reach Pavel at his email address: s.pavel6@gmail.com
His cost for repair is $50 per unit although he discounted my cost to $45 each, maybe because I was having two display units repaired. He also charges $15 for the return shipping via USPS Priority Mail. Pavel includes a 1 year warranty for his work, and strives for a one-day turn around for repairs.
When I mailed out my units I discovered the base $15 USPS charge only provides $20 of insurance. Because a new SID is $500 and new HVAC ACC Controllers are NLA, I increased insurance to $1000. This increased my one-way shipping cost to ~$30. Had I known this when I wrote the check to Pavel I would have increased shipping to $30 for the added insurance on the return trip. He also accepts PayPal with the Buyer covering the 4% Service Charge.
I attempted to obtain quotes for this service from BBA Reman, who I have used before, but their web site links for "Price On Application" were not working and they no longer have costs for SAAB Display Unit Repair posted on their web site.
Maybe this information can help others.
