Two Saab 93 Sports started along with over 50 cars for the 24 hour endurance race == only 12 finished the race, the Saab 93 Sport came in at 3130 kilometers. Carroll Shelby won in an Aston Martin.
Stirling Moss wrote a great book about the race, made a complaint that the slow cars were not fit to be on the track with the fast cars......he must have been referring to the 750cc Panhard, not the Saab......although the Panhard came in 11th ahead of the Saab, and also won the economy award. I think the combination of the gasoline and oil mix in the 2 stroke pushed it over in fuel consumption, so the Saab got the Exxon Valdez award as well as finishing.
