I'm not sure I accept that article/website as authoritative on the subject. The all caps SAAB was ubiquitous in all official literature, promotional material, etc. well into at least the late 90s. I have a distinct memory of an announced change of rebranding from SAAB to Saab. I didn't even own a Saab before 1996, so it was definitely some time after that, most likely well after that. Until and unless I see some corroborating evidence to the contrary, I'm going with my memory.
As an aside, I have to laugh at these snippets from the article:
"When referring to the company in both written and oral communication...it is proper to use SAAB in all capital letters" (and the corresponding statement with Saab/lower case)
Oral communication, eh? How does that work in this guy's mind? "Hi, I am looking for a drive shaft for my car, it's a 1969 capital S, capital A, capital A, capital B, 99. .... Oh, why did I spell the name of the car company out like an insane person? It's because it's proper to capitalize all the letters in all oral communication for that model and year, per the saabhistory website. By the way, I will also need some wiper blades for my 1972 Captial S, lower case a, lower case a, lower case b 99..."
