And if you want some fun twisty road driving, just head out of Troy on Rt 2 over Petersburg Pass to Williamstown, where you can then follow the Mohawk Trail around the hellacious hairpin in North Adams.

That may compensate for enduring the Thruway from Buffalo to Albany.
