Last Fall, the Saabnet.com server went through a major upgrade. I transitioned the server off of a Dell server that had been running 24x7x365 for about 7.5 years straight. During the hardware upgrade to a new Dell server, memory was upgraded (doubled), and disk space was upgraded (doubled). I also used the opportunity to upgrade to a newer version of Red Hat Linux which was very tricky since Saabnet.com requires specific software and getting everything to work together took a lot of building and re-building. At the same time, security was upgraded to secure https and security certificates were purchased and installed. Also, another brand new Dell server was purchased to become the backup server just in case of a hardware catastrophe on the main server.
