Two stroker engines came with the car. Neither runs but I am checking with guys who regularly rebuild them. The car came with a 3-speed box of unknown vintage. I have strong leads on two 4-speed boxes, one which was from a 2-stroke car so it has the preferred Ring and Pinion ratio.
The rear drivetrain parts which came on the car are fittingly from a pre-1964 96. Yesterday I located two NOS rear axles (the car came with none) for the pre-1964 hubs. The axles were cheaper than a set of used 1967 axles with CV joints from TN. The NOS ones are coming from Uraguay.
I have seen info saying the Sachs clutch used in the early 96 was also used in the Porsche 356. That will be great if true, as it may assure availability.
I intend to construct it to 1964/65 specs, including the frame tail fuel tanks, rather than build it to current day competition specs. This may be the last unmodified/unmolested Quantum IV when I am done. Subsequent owners can do what they desire. I recently learned there may be one more never completed Quantum IV kit in existence.
This car will be an adventure!
BTW: Do you have any interest in rebuilding a 2-stroke SAAB engine? PM me with details if interested. I frequently visit the greater Pittsburgh area.
