We picked up a 2006 97x 5.3 with 160,000 miles in excellent condition . Two years later , and 40,000 miles of hard mountain/hwy/city driving . Excellent rating from a long time SAAB family .
The engine does have the DOD {displacement on demand } , but that can be eliminated .
Tech 2 interface with a GM card .
I replaced the rear air bag suspension with springs .
87 octane , 16 - 18 MPG . 350 mile range .
18 inch tires . Full size spare .
Pros.... Excellent 100% SAAB interior and Seats . Excellent visibility and All Wheel Drive .
Very serviceable LS engine / drivetrain , GM 360T with 4L60E transmission .
Snow and Ice machine with the right tires ! Fun in the Mountain Snow !
Cons.....Tailgate doesn't raise enough for tall people , Caution ! Back seats don't fold down flat.
Unfortunately these vehicles can be targeted for theft , as the 97x Aero has a 6.0 Corvette
motor . No cabin air filter . Outdated navigation screen .
Quirks...Headlamp Pods have internal melting on the running light / orange lens . Xenon Headlamps .
The turn signal stems fail , turn right and it can turn on the bright lights . Turn left
and the fuel pump dies . Parts are mostly available .
Advice ..Go for it !
