Unless you absolutely need a car — as opposed to just wanting one — the best solution may be to ride out the next two years until prices come back down. Assuming they do! The earlier numbers we are used to, though, may not come back with official inflation running near 9% (probably higher on cars, of course).
Your specific requirements have boxed you in so if you see the exact car you want you probably should just grab it, price be damned. Or you could realize almost any car is ultimately a depreciating asset no matter what you pay and just get something that meets most of your requirements and be done with the search. Manuals will just get rarer.
We have two 9-3s (sticks) and two automatic S60s — three with very high mileage — and have decided to just fix and keep driving them until they absolutely fall apart as it’s cheaper to do so.
