I've given my trusty '07 Saab 9-3 2.0T SportiCombi to my 17YO daughter to drive, as she has not proven responsible enough to drive any of our Volvos. Quite the lead foot (coupled with a failure to pay attention), so she drives the Saab manual, with the speed warning set to 79mph. Sure wish Volvo had this feature.
Anyway, I had to take the Saab for state inspection, so I took it to work, as there is a shop close by that does inspections over lunch. The 35 minute commute reacquainted me with stick and clutch, having to actually shoulder-check and use my turn indicator for 3 flashes, stay in my lane, glance down at the speedometer, and calculate how far to pull into the parking space.
Regardless of the extra "work", it was still a joy to drive, hear that turbo whistle and feel the boost push me back into the seat a bit. This with 265k on the odometer, no less.
I'd sold my 2002 Saab Aero wagon some years ago, and really missed it. The only suitable replacement I could find was a 2020 Volvo V90 T5 R-Design, which we just purchased. It is quick, long, and low, and so far, very nice to drive. Hopefully, I'll get 200k out of it like I did the Aero. Sure miss that Aero though. Awesome all-day-drive seats, and fun in the corners.
Anyway, enjoying the Saab for the day, and looking forward to retiring and hopefully a Saab project car to keep me occupied.
