Bear with me, I think this may be somehow connected to the problem all of you are experiencing. . .
I've noticed that addresses on this site work with either http://www.saabnet.com or saabnet.com out front. Try it right now with this page - if you see something like
http://www.saabnet.com/tsn/bb/general/index.html?bID=45073
replace it with
http://saabnet.com/tsn/bb/general/index.html?bID=45073
and you should be at the same page. Or if you see the second address, replace it with the first.
I'm not sure what causes this, maybe this site is mirrored from one of the servers to the other one. Thus, when you read content on one server, all the links get marked as read. Then, somewhere along the line, you switch to the other server, and the links you visited earlier are unvisited. I'm not sure yet what would cause your browser to switch servers, though.
Here's another expiriment you can do: clear your brower's history to get rid of any links it has marked as read. Go to one of the bulliten boards here, the way you normally would when reading. Read a couple posts, so the links get marked as read. Now, switch to the mirror of the board you just read. Say, for this board, if your browser is looking at
http://www.saabnet.com/tsn/bb/general
type
saabnet.com/tsn/bb/general
instead. Or vice-versa. The postings you just read should all be there, but marked as unread cause you read them off of the oter server. Now switch back to the address you started with. The postings you just read should all be marked as read again.
Or, this could be purely off-base speculation on my part. I guess we just have to wait for words of wisdom from Scott Patterson.
