Good lord! For a 9K! A 9-5, maybe...
Semi-funny car rental story here...
I used Thrifty to rent a 4x4 SUV for myself in DC. Got an unbelievable rate for a Montero or similar (in their words). I arrive in DC and guess what they try to give me? A Ford F-150 4x2. Granted, it was an extended cab, but it wasn't a 4x4 and it wasn't an SUV. I'd have to throw my luggage in the bed of the pickup without a cover to keep my baggage dry and safe. And they didn't have any other 4x4s that were unlimited mileage (I saw a brand new Jeep, but it was limited mileage).I really needed the 4x4 because I was going to Virginia and hoped to have a little fun on a friend's farm. So I stormed out and walked along the road to the next car rental place, about 2 blocks up the road (carrying my suitcase). Dollar Rent-a-Car was more than happy to give me a smelly, beat-up, high-mileage Montero for double what I was paying at Thrifty! I paid something like $750 for the week w/AAA and w/sweet-talking the employee into a 5% discount.
