With so many of us using mobile phones
of the GSM type in the USA and Europe
here are a few things I think all should know.
Many will know most of it...
1) When mobile phone is on or off* a GSM phone
location can be triangulated by the operator
allowing police to know where you are...
2) When a mobile phone is on or off* a GSM phone
can be put in listen mode by the operator, in fact
it will look like off but it will be on transmitting
what can be heard through its mic.
3*) All GSM mobile phones can be turned in passive on
mode by the operator allowing your operator to listen
or to triangulate you. (nasty...)
4) To avoid both of the above when you need your privacy
simply remove the battery pack and hold POWER ON for
3 seconds to discharge all power left internally. Then
place battery somewhere where it can't feed GSM for time
needed. Obviously when you're going somewhere private you
should remove battery before you leave.
5) Secret services in general can play operator and do
all the operator can do...
All the above is true... I know cause... well I know.
I value privacy... so now you know!
Regards,
Coolknight
