I don't know which model of Saab you own, but I think clutch pressure plates are pretty much the same. On my old 99E before disconnecting the clutch pedal I would remove the clutch housing cover, depress and hold the clutch pedal, then wedge a length of spark plug wire around the throw-out bearing and between the depressed, radial spring "fingers" and the pressure plate housing. This kept the springs depressed when I disconnected the slave cylinder. It was necessary to have the clutch depressed in order to gain the clearance to remove it from the transmission.
