Dallas Auto Show - SHAME on SAAB USA

At the Dallas auto show this weekend, I literally had to hunt for the SAAB display. Finally I found it hidden behind the Chevy trucks in the corner. I realize that the Dallas show is not Detroit or Paris, but Cadillac on the other hand had a very prominent (sp?) position with a lot of floor space dedicated to the rebranded Escalade. I realize Dallas is big SUV country, but the SAAB booth was poorly manned, I saw no available literature, no mention of SCC or SVC, etc. I overheard one person asking the only booth person if SAAB still put the key between the seats. Had I not intervened, the potential customer would have walked away thinking that its sole purpose was to lock the transmission.
The general keeps talking about SAAB's premium image, but in this case SAAB appeared as the illegitimate child who had the audacity to show up at the family reunion. Before you go and flame me for knocking the general, all I am saying is that this is not the way to market SAABs. It gives the wrong impression. People who have an interest in European cars are not as a rule going to look in GM land. While Volvo was close to Ford, Chrysler and Benz were adjacent, etc. They were positioned close to VW, Audi, BMW, and the premium Japanese brands. (Do people really think the Subaru WRX is attractive? Person with me is 6'4", did NOT fit) And there was SAAB, wedged in a remote corner in the back behind the pickup trucks.....Saleen the Mustang tuner had more space, go figure?
