There's a nail in my tyre!

It seems that winter is just about over and I've had a look at the summer tyres (225/45-17 Michelin Pilots) for my 9-5 Aero. It turns out that there's a nail firmly lodged in one of the tyres (I remember Coolknight stating that the Pilots attract nails like a vacuum cleaner).
What should I do about it? It hasn't lost pressure, so should I just leave it? I'm thinking that if I remove the nail ... THEN it'll start losing pressure. Or does the nail represent a danger when driving at high speed (being situated 20 miles from Germany I often do 130 mph or so)?
Are repairs - if necessary - reliable?
These tyres are not very worn and although there are better tyres out there I don't particularly feel like forking out a minor fortune for a new set - but IF in the end I decide to go for new tyres is it OK to get two tyres of another brand for the rear wheels and keep two Pilots for the front?
Any comments will be gratefully received!
Regards,
Caspar
