I tried placing this message on the 9000 board earlier today, but without reply. Maybe everybody there is baffled, or those who know are on holidays. Anyway, seeing as it is really a general (not just a 9000) problem, I am re-posting it here (and am I worried - I am afraid to go anywhere !). Thanks.
I recently had my car in for a very minor fender-bender (rear), and now the as I was picking it up, there is a totally unrelated problem (at least I think it is unrelated, but I would of course like the shop to fix it).
At first, as I was leaving, I sat in and closed the driver's door, and there was a strange noise from the passenger-side door, mostly loud clicking but sort of tailing off. When I then got out, I noticed the central locking would not work (neither the remote nor the key; except maybe the key to open it). The garage thought that the Saab central locking is air-driven, and that the clicking was a compressed air "fault", or possibly a faulty fuse.
Then when I went to start the engine (actually for a second time), I noticed the flashers were on, and the car was disabled ! It felt like the alarm, but there was no sound (I've never heard it anyway). Only after playing with the central locking remote, did the problem suddenly fix itself. The garage was trying to close early for the holiday (or to get rid of me), and offered that I "bring it back for a look some day soon".
Obviously this is scary, as I do not want to end up stuck somewhere, and the clicking problem is unacceptable. By the way, mine is a '96 9000 CS. Any ideas what's going on would be appreciated !
