... I'm a Danish citizen (or, strictly speaking, a "subject" - since Denmark is still in the Dark Ages and has a monarchy ...).
However, I've lived about half my life in other countries: Sweden, the UK, Saudi Arabia, Greece and for the past 1½ years Luxembourg.
As it happens, my father has been living/working for the past seven years in Montreal so I even visit North America at regular intervals.
BTW regarding driving licences: I took mine in Denmark in 1986 (yes, in a manual). Before taking the practical test you have to pass a written test; I passed at my first attempt, but a friend of mine who got the highest grade average in the country for his high school diploma and won a Chemistry prize at university (whilst still in high school) failed in his first attempt...
As the rules are now, I believe, there is a minimum of 20 or so compulsory practical driving lessons incl. driving on a track (that can be covered in water, for instance), driving at night, city rush-hour traffic and driving on the motorway (unless you live on some small island that doesn't have any...).
