..proper snow tires. Even the smallest amount will be near lethal, I know it happened to me this spring. I was extremely lucky that I anticipated the situations as they occured and was able to avoid real trouble. I had changed back into the summer sneaks but was caught in a wet snow that was enough to cover the roads in a quick storm. Not ability to go or stop without an agonizing effort to get enough grip to accomplish the maneuver intended... perhaps like steering a tanker, in that input and result are deathly slow to take...
So, Get some dedicated snows. I went through last Winters *heavy* snows ok with the standard Viggen snow kit from Saab, which was three soke rims with Gislaved Nordfrost-II. I am tempted to put a few rows of studs in this year to get extra bite. Even with the snows the Viggen planes up on slush. In real snow it gets decent grip for fat tires. On Ice it also does as well as a non studded tire will do, again considering these are fat tires. That is why I am considering a few studs, to get a bit more bite.
