As a Canadian in our capital, Ottawa, I just want to express the incredible outrage and horror that people here have felt over the terrible events of Tuesday and to express our support and sympathy. Particularly, we feel great grief and sorrow for the families and friends of the victims.

People all over Ottawa have been giving blood, making financial donations and delivering flowers, poems and lighting candles at the US embassy. Little work has been going on in office and government buildings as people are so shaken.

Our radio, television and newspapers are flooded with expressions of support. I believe that Canada will stand with the US and provide what ever support we can in the coming months to help bring down the criminals who did this.

Finally, I wish to express how impressed I have been with the US leadership and the restraint and professionalism shown under such intense strain.
