engineers can devise a way to evacuate a 110 story building in a reasonable amount of time. This is virtually impossible. The WTC makes us aware of this huge problem which is built into most skyscrapers in the world.
The WTC was a fantastic building. the fact that the first stood for 1 hour after being hit by a large aircraft is amazing. Further, the controlled collapse is something to admire, this could have been so much worse... However, 1 hour should have been ample time to evacuate any building.
Further, I think that after this tragedy people will not want to be working on 95th or 101st floors anymore. I dont think they will feel safe.
To replace the WTC with the same sort of building would not be learning from mistakes. I dont think that putting more people in danger is really a good way to be patriotic or to send a message.
