Hyundai is on fire. I repeat: Hyundai is on fire. Great looking cars, increased quality (still not perfect), incredible value and killer warranty are combining to make them a screaming threat to the industry. Toyota was just like Hyundai in the 1960s- crap cars nobody wanted to admit they had to buy. Then, they started building value and quality. I promise you, the auto industry is watching Hyundai very carefully, as they are beginning to blossom as Toyota did.
Check out this month's Car and Driver for a pic of the new V6 powered Tiburon. It looks fantastic, will be priced right, and should scoot pretty well.
Three years ago I wouldn't have touched Hyundai with a ten foot pole. Now, if a friend asks me for a recommendation, I include Hyundai in my list of possibilities. Yes, their quality is still not at the Toyota level, but it has improved and the 10 year/100,000 mile warranty removes a lot of the risk.
