any psychoanalysts here? My thesis is: The high heritability of schizophrenia is inconsistent with current psychodynamic approaches to its treatment.
I have about 10 books in front of me. Half of them are genetics books that are complete statistical gobbeldygook, and the other five books are psychodynamic psychobabble b.s that I am supposed to make sense out of and contrast with the genetic basis of schizophrenia. Here is an example of what Hyman Spotnitz says about schizophrenia. I wonder if this guy is really a con artist:
"Schizophrenia is an organized mental situation, an intricately structured but psychologically unsuccessful defense against destructive behavior. Both aggressive and libidinal impulses figure in this organized situation; aggressive urges provide the explosive force while libidinal urges play an inhibiting role. The operation of the defense protects the object from the release of volcanic aggression but entails the disruption of psychic apparatus. Obliteration of the object field of the imnd and fragmentation of the ego are among the secondary consequences of defense."
That sounds like the biggest load of b.s. and this guy is/was a leading psychoanalyst. What a bunch of b.s. I didnt even want to take this class but it was basically the only course I could get into. Ugh. Its 3am and this is my final exam, due in about 5 hours and I have like 2 pages, thats it. Well at least I am writing something here. I am getting hungry. SAAB CONTENT: when I am done with this stupid paper, I'm going home tomorrow and replacing my rear main seal so I can finally use the fricken turbo without blowing oil all over my engine compartment.
