Tireshop Question

Just ordered a set of Dunlop Winter Sport for my 9-3. While I was in the shop, I noticed they have serveral bays just for tire changes. They uses scissors type lift to lift the car up about 6-12" off the ground. One thing I notice is that they didn't use any jack pad (or block of woods) under the jack points. That means the entire side undercarriage will be resting on the lift's surface. Just wondering if this is OK or should I insists they put a pad/woodblock under the jack point or am I just being a pain in the rear ?
