You have large or even normal sized hands I believe thin wheels are installed because some small people (and women) find thick steering wheels difficult to grasp . A steering wheel cover can always be laced on to increase girth , but it is impossible to make a nice thick rim smaller . Some American cars from 60's & 70's had large diameter , thin steering wheels that would cramp my hands after a day "in the saddle" . On my 9KT I have an elasticized cover over the stock steering wheel that my "Purest" friends sneer at -but it works for me .
On my old 4X4 I had 2 elastic covers until the wife complained . The right solution might be the "removable steering wheel" option with "his & hers" wheels ! Also a good theft deterrant !
