Leather: (calm down Ed G) Elmo vs. Bridge of Weir Posted by bryan [Email] (#542) [Profile/Gallery] (more from bryan) on Mon, 31 Dec 2001 01:05:23 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Just sharing my experience with the different leather vendors in my 88 9KS (Bridge of Weir, Charcoal) and 92 9KT (Elmo, Camel). All I can say is, I wish the 92 had the B.O.W instead of the Elmo stuff. While the Elmo leather is nicer to the touch, it's not nearly as durable, and the stitching is WEAK. The S car is an everyday work car, frequently has passengers, boxes of samples and stuff that I should put in the trunk but am too lazy, etc. Basically I don't treat them that great but keep them well conditioned, and the Bridge of Weir leather just keeps wearing like iron and have yet to pop a stitch.
The 92 with the Elmo, on the other hand, is on a not driven that much car that usually only has myself in it. I've had to have it stitched up three times in a year, and once on the drivers seat (understandable), but twice in the back seat just from leaning in with a knee and being conscious NOT to put my full weight on it.....pop pop pop, there go some stitches.
Just wondering about other experiences between the two others might have, or if mine is atypical.
