Crank Shaft Pulley

This may be an unsophistocated query for this site...I have had a 1985 900S automatic for about 9 months. Ever since I had the power steering belt replaced about a month ago the car has been SQUEELING at ignition. The car warms up and it stops...knowing little or nothing about how my little baby works, I figured it was a problem with said belt. I took it back to the shop that replaced the belt in the first place. They didn't hear the noise and told me it was the alternator - whatever. So I took the car to my authorized Saab dealer today and they said the crank shaft pulley is going. (what the !@#$%^& is a crank shaft pulley - very expensive I found out). So here's the story morning glories...I am wondering if a used crank shaft pulley is an option (the dealer can't use used parts but I might be able to find someone else who can - but I have no idea if that's even possible). Or if I should sell the car to someone who has the money and love to deal with this car's problems (I only have the love half of that equation). Sorry to be so long winded.
