(Sorry about earlier no post.) Alot has been said the past couple of days about GM. Rick Waggoner's hiring of Bob Lutz as President of GM/ North
America as new product design Czar is the smartest decision GM has made in
25 years. Lutz is the one man with the talent, vision & RESPECT to carve
through the layers of fat & programmed resistence to change that have
dogged GM for decades. I have picked up some interesting stories about Lutz since he arrived at GM a few months ago.

He took $1500 of his own money & printed 3000 stickers that were placed
stratigically around the design center that simply reads..."Sez Who ??"
An obvious challenge to think out of the box! When a designer was showing
early drawings of the next Corvette, Lutz said "what's that?", when the
designer remarked it was the next 'Vette, Lutz took one look & remarked
"No it's not!" The point is, this is a man who understands why people
buy a certain car. He understands the unique nature of Saab. He flies his own Russian fighter jet & is very aware of Saab's aeronautical history. Hell, for all I know he may have flown a Saab fighter himself.

Stay upbeat fellow Saabers. While 69 year old Lutz won't be at GM forever, he will leave his mark. Rick Waggoner knows that, and the smart people
at GM will follow his examples. This is a company that has squandered so
much success & good will, it has to do something right & hiring Lutz was
it!

By the way, with the runaway success of retro cars which Lutz instigated
with the PT Cruiser (& Ford copied w/Thunderbird), it looks like Chevy
may bring back a retro '57 Chevy Bel-Air V-8. I'd buy it!!!!!!!!
