A friend of mine tried doing this with a truck a few years ago. The truck was a 2 year old Mazda B3000 in absolutely mint condition with 20,000 miles, and the dealer told him he would be happy to sell it for a fee of $500. The seller wanted to clear $9,000 on the truck, so they agreed on the $500 fee, showing the truck with an asking price of $9,500 and my friend left his truck into the dealership... a few weeks went by, and the truck was still not selling, and he was thinking of taking it back, but the dealer convinced him to leave it, saying that winter was coming to an end, and there would be more demand soon. At this point he was getting tired of trying to sell a truck he did not really need to sell, so he had a friend call the dealership, posing as a customer inguiring about the truck. Sure, it was for sale, one owner, perfect, asking price $11,000!!!!!!!!!!!! New, the truck didn't cost much more than that, without ever asking the question of where the extra $1,500 would go. Just a little story to keep in mind..
