Most auto makers stop carrying parts for older cars after a certain period of time. I suggest that time is independent to when GM took over SAAB. Maybe somebody can indicate whether thay can still get SAAB parts for a 96? By all means, present a petition. But remember that short run builds are going to be expensive, especially for parts 15+ years old. In some cases, the base materials of construction will not be available - especially in plastics where formulations for even PVC and the like have changed. Then there is the problem of dies made for a die-casting machine 20 years ago and the machine was sent to scrap 10 years ago.
Sorry to be a wet blanket. Bit I think it's a fact of life. I have just been a victim of a similar problem as I had to replace a garage door opener as a replacement circuit board was no longer available. Several hundred dollars for a $20 printed circuit board!
