GM scraps multiple vehicle design centers

News from Detroit says GM is consolidating its seven design studios (including SAAB) into just two: cars & trucks. This is intended to speed up new vehicle development and give designers more freedom. Also stated is that preliminary vehicle design will be done prior to market research, rather than the other way 'round. Not a bad idea, IMHO.
